Bognor Regis Butlin’s resort opens £40m pool
Holiday resort chain Butlin’s has launched a brand new swimming pool worth £40m at its Bognor Regis location.
In a million-pound makeover, Butlin’s resort in the West Sussex town has opened an expansive swimming pool complete with cabana style beach huts, wave machine and a towering helter-skelter water slide.
The 1,000-person capacity pool, named ‘Splash’, is 6,300 square metres in size holding 6,00,000 litres of water for guests to enjoy their recreation in.
There are multiple water slides that pour into the pool from racing slides set side by side, to one that resemble sticks of rock candy. All these chutes are dwarfed by the 24-foot high helter-skelter that Butlin’s is calling a “world first”.
Other water-based entertainment at the pool includes a flume ride, a family rafting experience, and the Seaside Gardens Rapids ride, boasting a 328-foot-long course.
Changing rooms designed for family use are generously spacious and there are quiet areas complete with loungers for those looking for a slower pace.
The pool complex features state-of-the-art energy efficiency facilities to keep guests comfortable at all times, including underfloor heating and air temperatures bordering on tropical.
Managing Director for Butlin’s, Jon Hendry-Pickup, commented:
“Our aim was to create an experience that takes our Bognor resort to a whole new level and ensures we continue to be at the forefront of British family breaks. We believe we’ve done exactly that.”
The pools grand opening was celebrated with a spectacular multimillion-pixel lightshow for guests of the resort.
